Welcome!

We would like to introduce ourselves; we are Glenda and Jessi, the mother and daughter team widely known as "The Cowgirls". Most of the pages of our website are dedicated to our Australian Cattle Dogs (AKA Blue Heelers, Red Heelers or Queensland Heelers). We have loved, worked and bred Australian Cattle Dogs for 30 years. If you would like to see our dogs and puppies that we have available, click on "Cattle Dog Puppies" or "Dogs" then "Puppies For Sale". Anything that you might want to know about us and our puppies along with helpful hints about Cattle Dogs and Cattle Dog Puppies can be found on our "FYI" page. Feel free to take the time to visit the pages that feature our "Western Home Furnishings", "Jessica Spurlock's Horse Shoeing Service" and our "Horses". We often have nice halter bred horses or trail riding horses for sale. Please make yourselves at home and we hope that you enjoy your visit. We often have horses for sale and stallions that we are standing at stud, you can see more information about them on our "Horses" page.

A special big thanks to all of the men and women that are serving our country in Germany, Iraq and Afghanistan that have gotten puppies from us. We are honored to work with you and very very proud of the sacrifice that you are making for our freedom. We are sincerely humbled.

The proud warriors of Baker Company wanted to do
Something to pay tribute
To our fallen comrades So since we are part of the only
Marine Infantry Battalion left in Iraq the one way that we could
Think of doing that is By taking a picture of
Baker Company saying the way we feel.
It would be awesome if you could find a way to share
This with our fellow countrymen.
I was wondering if there was any way to
Get this into your
Papers to let the world know that
'WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN'
And are proud to serve our country.

John's wife, Mindy, said that this little girl's entire family was executed. The insurgents intended to execute the little girl also, and shot her in the head...but they failed to kill her.  She was cared for in John's hospital and is healing up, but continues to cry and moan. The nurses said John is the only one who seems to calm her down, so John has spent the last four nights holding her while they both slept in that chair. The girl is coming along with her healing. A Christmas Poem

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.

The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know,

Then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.

Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.
A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.

"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,
"Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"
For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..

To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right,
I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night."
"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.

No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died at ' Pearl on a day in December,"
Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of ' Nam ',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.

I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.
Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue... an American flag.
I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.

I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother..
Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall."

"  So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."
"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

PLEASE, would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many
people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our
U.S. service men and women for our being able to celebrate these
festivities. Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people
stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us.

Today I am attending the funeral for one of the greatest patriots you could ever hope to meet, and I wanted to briefly tell you a little about this man: Vincent Florian.

For nearly seven years I've served as the Director of Care Package operations for Move America Forward, the largest pro-troop organization in the country. During that time we assembled and shipped over 200 tons of care packages that were received by hundreds of thousands of U.S. troops serving overseas.

During this time one of our most loyal volunteers was Vincent, or as we called him, Vince. He and his lovely wife, Barbara, would come nearly every single day putting together these care packages - never receiving a dime's worth of compensation. They volunteered because they believed in the greatness of our American military men and women.

You see, Vince was a veteran himself. He served in the U.S. Air Force, including service during the Vietnam War, and Vince saw first-hand how U.S. Troops got caught up in the politics of war - spit upon and attacked by some Americans who took out their frustrations over the politics of war on those who wore the uniform of the U.S. military.

Vince vowed that no U.S. Troops would ever have to face such treatment again.

There's something else you should know about Vince - he was diagnosed with lung cancer. And so, in the final years of his life, even as he struggled to gasp for air and find the energy to even move, he would still come nearly every single day, working on these care packages.

Last week, Vince breathed his last breath of air and passed away. Today is his funeral, which I will be attending in Dixon, California.

During his funeral, several hundred miles to the south, Move America Forward will be hosting their 4th annual TroopAThon - raising money to send care packages to our troops. Vincent would have loved to be there, but now someone else will have to step forward and take his role of supporting our troops, while Vince watches from the Heaven's above.

You can do your part by sponsoring a Care Package for our Troops during today's TroopAThon effort. To donate a care package, simply visit the TroopAThon Care Package website - CLICK HERE TO SPONSOR CARE PACKAGES.

I want to ask you to please take just 1 minute and 50 seconds to see what this effort is about by watching this video which has clips of Vince and his wife Barbara. It will help you to understand what this is all about and why I'm so emotional in supporting this effort:

One of the things Vince liked to do best was to repair the personal fans we'd ship to the troops to keep them cool. The fans would sometimes get damaged in shipment, and Vince was determined to repair as many of them as possible since he knew the temperatures our troops were facing were over 100 degrees, and that was oppressive when they were already wearing 75+ pounds of body armor.

They don't make men like Vince Florian too much anymore, folks. So please, do me the honor of helping pay tribute to him by sponsoring one of those Care Packages Vince helped assemble each and every day. You can sponsor Care Packages - HERE.

And you can also watch today's 8-Hour TroopAThon live broadcast where there will be a special tribute to Vince. The show features everyone from Rush Limbaugh to Gov. Sarah Palin and some of our finest military men and women. Just log on to: www.TroopAThon.org

When the Music Stopped...

(For those who are unaware: At all military base theaters,
the National Anthem is played before the movie begins.)

This is written from a Chaplain in Iraq :

I recently attended a showing of 'Superman 3' here at
LSA Anaconda. We have a large auditorium we use for movies,
as well as memorial services and other large gatherings. As
is the custom at all military bases, we stood to attention
when the National Anthem began before the main feature. All
was going well until three-quarters of the way through The
 National Anthem, the music stopped.

Now, what would happen if this occurred with 1,000 18-22
year-olds back in the States? I imagine there would be
hoots, catcalls, laughter, a few rude comments, and everyone
would sit down and yell for the movie to begin. Of course,
that is, if they had stood for the National Anthem in the
 first place.

Here in Iraq, 1,000 Soldiers continued to stand at attention,
eyes fixed forward. The music started again and the Soldiers
continued to quietly stand at attention. But again, at the
same point, the music stopped. What would you expect 1000
Soldiers standing at attention to do?? Frankly, I expected
some laughter, and everyone would eventually sit down and
wait for the movie to start.

But No!!... You could have heard a pin  drop, while every
Soldier continued to stand at attention.

Suddenly, there was a lone voice from the front of the auditorium,
then a dozen voices, and soon the room was filled with the
voices of a thousand soldiers, finishing where the recording
left off: "And the rockets' red glare, the bombs
bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag
was still there. Oh, say does that Star Spangled Banner yet
wave, o'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave."

It was the most inspiring moment I have had in Iraq and I
wanted you to know what kind of Soldiers are serving you.
Remember them as they fight for us!
Pass this along as a reminder to others to be ever in prayer
for all our soldiers serving us here at home and abroad.
Many have already paid the ultimate price.

Did you know that Target Stores do not allow the Salvation Army or Toy For Tots to collect on their property and when their employees were called to support our country in Iraq and Afghanistan they cancelled their insurance. They were asked to be sponsors for the Vietnam Veterans Wall they responded and said that veterans in general do not meet their donation criteria. The Target Corporation is owned by a FRENCH company. Let's keep our AMERICAN $$ with companies that support our military men and women. Target only donates to the Arts, Gay and Lesbian Causes and Education. We don't care what causes anyone donates to or supports however we just think it is ridiculous... to find these or any causes to be of more value than the support of our military and their families. Shame on Target! We don't give McDonald's our money either. They believe that American Ranchers don't have the ability to produce good enough quality beef for us American consumers, however Mexico does. We have nothing against Mexico, we have lived in South Texas and Arizona, some of our best friends have been Mexican Americans. I am sure the people in Mexico want their companies to support their country just like we want companies in the United States to support our country. GE (General Electric) and Johnson & Johnson support Obamacare, Cap and Trade and other TOXIC policies of Obama's. Are you willing to support Johnson & Johnson and GE with your money now that you know that they are pouring money into our Government trying to buy policies that are bad for us, the real people that buy their products.

We encourage everyone that reads this to help us in supporting our troops! To learn more about what you can do personally go to: www.americasupportsyou.mil. It is operated by Department of Defense Office of Public Affairs. Thank you www.military.com for providing us with this information so we can share it with all of the people that enjoy our website.

We 100% support the men and women that are out there sacrificing their lives, their youth and their families for all of us. We don't want anyone to forget what they and their families are going through. Think about them and pray for them everyday.

Our MINI Heelers/Cattle Dogs are 100% PUREBRED HEELERS. It has taken us 10 years to breed the size down in our dogs while keeping the great Heeler personality, beautiful Heeler look and a healthy puppy that we are proud to give you a 1 Year Health Guarantee on. There are other breeders in Oregon that are crossing Chihuahuas with Australian Cattle Dogs/Blue Heelers and are advertising them them as "Purebred Toy and Mini Heelers". We don't care what anyone else does with their breeding program, just be honest about it. Our puppies are 100% Heelers. Their parents aren't crossed any toy or mini breeds to make them small. It has taken us many years of hard work and a lot of planning to be able to produce a beautiful healthy Heeler puppy that will mature 12-14 inches tall and 20-30 lbs, some may even be a little smaller than that. If that sounds big to you remember a standard Heeler is 16 inches or better with many over 20 inches tall and 45-65 lbs.

There is nothing wrong with hybrid or designer breeds of dogs. Just be honest and call them what they are.

Our dogs are of particular pride to us as they are a part of our family. They live in large pens or in our house with us. They have lots of room to run, play and socialize with each other. Each pen has daily play time with us.  They are not kenneled or caged and most have only seen a crate used as spare dog house on the porch!  All of our mommas have their puppies in our house and each puppy is delivered into our waiting hands. Years of selection, based on many stringent criteria, allow us to offer you a selection of loyal and hardworking Australian Cattle Dogs (AKA Blue Heelers, Red Heelers and Queensland Heelers), that are just as happy providing you with  loving family companionship as they are working for a living. Many of our Cattle Dog puppies are born with natural stumpy tails, that means that they either have no tail at all at birth or a very short one. If you would like a puppy with a long natural tail we can direct you to our upcoming litters that will have natural long tails. You are welcome to take first or second pick from any litter and keep a natural tail on your puppy. Jessi and I do not produce show dogs nor do we have any desire to do so. We are proud to offer beautiful, healthy pet and working quality puppies to loving family homes. Be sure and check out the "FYI" page, it is a link from our "Dogs" page. We have done our best to provide you with the answers to any questions you may have about us or our dogs on the many pages of this website.

If you would like to purchase a puppy from us we ask that you discuss this with any other people that live in your home as well as your land lord if you rent. We also ask that you make sure that you are ready to provide a baby puppy with a loving home. Deposits and payments on puppies are non refundable.  We reserve the right to refuse selling a puppy to anyone for any reason. If you have paid for a puppy and we become concerned for any reason we will immediately do a return to your card for the amount you have paid less the credit card transaction fee. These decisions are final and not negotiable or debatable.

Docking Tails

We are happy to leave a long natural tail on a puppy if it has one and if someone wants it left on, if not the tails are banded.

What Breeds Make Up the Australian Cattle Dog/Blue or Red Heeler?

So what breeds were used to come up with a Blue or Red Heeler, Australian Cattle Dog or Queensland Heeler (all the same dog by the way)? The list is a lot longer than you might think! If you start from the beginning the first dog was called a Smithfield, it had heavy hair, floppy ears, a bob tail with a dark body and a white ring around it's neck, that dog was crossed with a Native Australian Dingo, the resulting dog was crossed with a Rough Coated Collie. This dog was then crossed with a Blue Smooth Highland Collie, the resulting dog was crossed back on the Dingo again. These dogs then had some Bull Terrier added to them (about 1870), to calm this little fighter down they then added Dalmation into the mix to make a more devoted loyal dog (oops! Excuse the "mix" pun!).  In case you wondered the Australian Cattle Dog was not recognized by the American Kennel Club as a purebred breed until 1980. With that in mind...... can a Heeler have spots? Can they be pure white? Can they have a natural bob tail? Can they have curly hair? Can they be brindle? .... Sure they can... it's all in the genes!

What about the Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler being a Miniature Dog? We realized many years ago that people naturally gravitated towards our smaller puppies, the smaller they were the better they liked them. We set out to keep our highest quality dogs to use in our breeding program that were smallest in size. Through the years we were able to get a smaller and smaller Cattle Dog/Heeler. They are 100% Heelers with no other breed used besides a Heeler..... just years and years of selection and breeding to get a smaller maturing dog.

All deposits and payments that are made on the puppies are non-refundable. If you decide that you do not want a puppy after you have put a deposit on it you have credit towards any other puppy we have at anytime in the future.

We only accept cash at our home. We still accept credit and debit cards over  the phone for any puppies that are being shipped or paid for in full at the time that you pick it out. We aren't always able to make change, so just to be safe you should bring the correct amount.

Before your puppy ships to you or leaves our property if you are picking it up, we must have a signed dated copy of our guarantee in our possession, with the original signature of the person whose name is on the credit card that pays for the puppy. The guarantee can be found as a link from our FYI page.

We accept Visa, Master Card, debit and Wal-Mart Money Grams for phone sales.

We appreciate your time, consideration and interest.
